Travel + Lodging

Welcome to the 2017 New Directions in Environmental Law Conference (NDEL) on Environment, National Security & Human Rights. This page has all the information you need to get to New Haven and to arrive at the conference at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. If you have any additional questions, please contact us at ndel@yale.edu

Help us achieve our goal of receiving a Green Event Certification from the Yale Office of Sustainability!

NDEL 2017 is proud to work with the Yale Community Carbon Fund to support carbon mitigation projects in the Greater New Haven Area. When money is donated, the fund invests in projects that enable low-income communities and organizations to engage in energy efficiency efforts and realize cost savings. To support this effort, use the Community Carbon Fund Calculator to determine the emissions associated with your personal travel to our conference. We will be sure to highlight your contribution at the conference.

Travel Options

From the Northeast Corridor via rail:

For attendees coming from Washington D.C., New York, and other parts of New England with rail access, New Haven Union Station is serviced by Metro-North Railroad to and from Manhattan’s Grand Central Station and Harlem-125th Street Station, as well as Amtrak with easy access from all metropolitan areas in New England.

Outside the Northeast by air, flying into New York or New Jersey:

If you are traveling from outside the Northeast corridor, flying into one of New York City’s three airports – JFK, LaGuardia, or Newark – is the shortest form of travel. Our conference logistics team will help you consider which of these airports is best for you. Please keep in mind that if you fly through New York City, you should reserve at least three and a half hours between arrival time and the start of the event.

Outside the Northeast by air, flying into Connecticut:

Conference attendees may also wish to fly into Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Connecticut, or Tweed New Haven Airport in New Haven, Connecticut, should compare the length of the itinerary to flying into New York City. Shuttle service from Bradley is available; the Amtrak train from the Windsor Locks Station to New Haven Station is another option. Attendees may take a taxi or Uber from Tweed New Haven Airport to the conference location.
